After realizing she’d forgotten her wallet, Anna hurried back to the apartment—only to discover something that would forever change how she felt about her husband.

Anna exhaled softly. Lately, her husband’s mood had been more volatile than usual, but she chose to ignore it to avoid any arguments. Conflict was never something Anna embraced—she always sought harmony, often compromising just to keep the peace.

So she kept her feelings inside and headed to the store.

At the checkout, she suddenly realized she’d left her wallet behind. Frustrated, she ran her fingers through her hair and tried calling Boris, but he didn’t pick up.

She apologized to the cashier, asked them to hold her items, and quickly rushed back home.

As she approached the apartment door, she froze. She heard Boris talking on the phone.

“For illustration purposes only,” he said, “I’ve sorted everything out. The apartment is almost transferred—I just need to move the funds.”

Anna’s heart sank. What apartment? What funds? What was going on?

“There’s some risk,” Boris added, “but what can she do? She suspects nothing. She’s quiet and always gives in.”

Those words cut deep. After all these years of loyalty, was this really how he saw her?

Stunned and hurt, Anna listened as Boris discussed plans that clearly didn’t include her. When the call ended, she snapped out of her trance and quietly stepped away, hiding nearby.

Soon after, Boris came out but didn’t notice her. Once he was gone, Anna slipped away, needing time to process and find answers.

She called her friend Irina, who immediately sensed something was wrong. Anna confided everything.

Still shaken, Anna checked their joint bank account on the way home—it had less money than before. He was really taking it.

“Well,” she whispered, “if he wants a game, he’s got one.”

Back home, Boris was impatient as usual.

“Where have you been?” he snapped. “I’ve been starving all day!”

Anna stayed calm and silent. She needed more information before making any moves.

The next day, she called in sick and started her own investigation, going through Boris’s documents and computer.

What she found confirmed her worst fears—messages with a lawyer about divorce and dividing their assets.

She took photos, contacted her own lawyer, opened a separate bank account, and moved some savings. She also reached out to her parents for support.

But Anna wasn’t finished. She had one last move.

That evening, she set the dinner table as usual. When Boris sat down, she placed a folder before him.

“I’m filing for divorce,” she said coldly.

“Don’t bother denying it. I heard your call, saw the messages. Thought you could outsmart me? Think again.”

Boris was stunned. Anna continued:

“I’ve accepted it now. I never saw this coming. You spent so long planning this, but life has a way of turning around.”

He turned pale and erupted in anger, but Anna tuned him out.

Eventually, he packed and left.

The court ruled his property transfer invalid. Their assets were divided fairly despite his protests.

Time passed, and Anna slowly healed. She even attended a friend’s birthday—her first social outing in months.

There, she met someone new—kind, genuine, and nothing like Boris.

She hadn’t expected to fall in love again, but she gave it a chance. That choice changed her life.

Anna started fresh, building a life filled with love, trust, and true happiness.
