Blake Lively reportedly threatened to leak private, embarrassing texts from her close friend Taylor Swift unless Swift publicly supported her in a legal dispute with co-star Justin Baldoni, DailyMail.com has learned.
This explosive claim appears in a legal letter filed Wednesday by Baldoni’s lawyers, responding to Lively’s attempt to block their subpoena of Swift.
The filing alleges that Lively pressured Swift, 35, to issue a public statement backing her and urged her to delete messages between them amid the escalating lawsuit with Baldoni, 41.
This revelation highlights the breakdown of Lively and Swift’s once-close friendship, which has cooled amid the high-profile legal battle.
Both Swift and Lively have been subpoenaed for communications related to the case, despite Swift’s efforts to distance herself from the drama.
In the letter to the judge, Baldoni’s lawyer Bryan Freedman rejected Lively’s claim that the subpoena seeking Swift’s documents was irrelevant.
Freedman argued the subpoena targets evidence of witness tampering and destruction of evidence, specifically Lively’s alleged attempt to coerce Swift’s public support.
The letter states that Lively asked Swift to delete their texts, which reportedly contain over a decade’s worth of private conversations.
It also claims Lively’s lawyer contacted Swift’s attorney, demanding Swift release a supportive statement or face exposure of private messages.
Swift’s team allegedly responded to these “inappropriate and apparently extortionate threats” in writing.
The subpoena seeks these communications as evidence of intimidation in the ongoing litigation.
Swift, whose song features on the “It Ends With Us” soundtrack, was drawn into the conflict when Baldoni filed a $400 million countersuit accusing Lively and her husband Ryan Reynolds of defamation.
Text messages revealed in Baldoni’s complaint show Lively referring to Swift and Reynolds as her “dragons,” seemingly to intimidate Baldoni.
Since then, Swift has distanced herself from Lively and the scandal, even cutting ties socially—Swift has not been seen with Lively in months, and Swift’s boyfriend Travis Kelce unfollowed Reynolds on Instagram.
The case has dragged in many A-list figures, with some of Lively’s allegations now questioned, such as claims about inappropriate behavior by Baldoni during filming.
Legal attention has also turned to other associates, including publicist Stephanie Jones, subpoenaed after allegedly turning over phones linked to the case.
Jones denies wrongdoing, stating she complied with a subpoena rather than acting as a favor.
The lawsuit also involves accusations that Lively’s company filed a “sham” suit to gain subpoena powers, which Baldoni’s lawyer called a blatant abuse of the legal process.
Despite the public bravado, Swift has reportedly been devastated by being drawn into the case and feels betrayed by Lively.
Up until recently, Swift and Lively were close friends, with Swift acting as godmother to Lively’s three children and living nearby in New York.
The friendship deteriorated after Lively’s December lawsuit against Baldoni and the subsequent countersuit involving Reynolds.
Text messages submitted as evidence revealed Lively likened herself to Khaleesi from “Game of Thrones” and referred to Swift as one of her “dragons.”
Baldoni also claimed Swift attended a key meeting about the film at Lively and Reynolds’ penthouse, though sources say Swift was merely an unexpected visitor.
